The holidays are right around the corner and there is no better person to spread the ho-ho-holiday cheer than Santa Claus. He will be in Edwardsville on Saturday, November 29 (the Saturday after Thanksgiving). Don’t miss Santa riding down Main Street at 12:45 p.m. in a City firetruck, arriving at Nickel Plate Station at 1 p.m.

From November 29 to December 20, Santa will be at the Nickel Plate Station for free visits every Tuesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and every Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m., except for Saturday, December 6. 

On Saturday, December 6, Santa will visit City Park, 101 S. Buchanan Street, for Edwardsville’s Winter Market Festival. He will meet with young visitors between 1 and 4 p.m. Find details about this event on our Winter Market Festival page.

What is the Holiday Treat Trail?

The Holiday Treat Trail is your ticket to a day of delicious holiday fun in Grafton! It’s a festive stroll through our charming town where you’ll get to visit participating businesses and receive a unique, homemade or gourmet holiday treat and a delicious beverage from each one.
 
Here’s how it works:
 
Get a Free Ticket: The first 300 people to arrive at The Loading Dock between 11 AM and 1 PM get a free ticket and a punch card. Once they’re gone, they’re gone, so plan to get here early!
 
Start the Trail: Stroll throughout town until 5 PM, visiting all the participating businesses, getting your card punched at each stop, and exploring everything each shop has to offer!
 
Collect Your Goodies: You’ll collect a variety of tasty treats and festive drinks in your complimentary Grafton, Illinois tote bag, compliments of the Grafton Chamber of Commerce. This tote is also perfect for toting around any early Christmas gifts you find while shopping at our amazing local boutiques and gift shops!

The Grinch will be arriving in the South Grand neighborhood in the city of St. Louis on Saturday, Dec. 6 with an unusual motive: to spread holiday cheer and joy and to raise funds for Shriners Children’s St. Louis.
 
The Grinch will be on hand at Rooster South Grand (3150 South Grand) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For a $7 donation to the hospital, participants can get their photo taken with the Grinch. Those who bring a donation for the children at Shriners Hospital, such items as games, puzzles, crayons, coloring books, etc. can get a photo taken for only $5.
 

Grand Goes Green for the Grinch

Across the district, select South Grand businesses have hidden our mischievous friend, the Grinch, on shelves and out-of-the-way places. Find as many Grinches as you can, snap a selfie with him, post the photo to Instagram and tag @SouthGrandSTL.
Green specials will be available throughout the day on South Grand to promote the Grinch spreading holiday cheer.

Join us as the judge in our City of Overland Residential Outdoor Christmas Light Display Contest. We have tour dates set for December 11, 12, and 13, with trolleys departing at various times each night. Space is limited, so be sure to grab your tickets starting November 29, 2025 at 8:30 am at the Overland Community Center OR register online at 6 am. Children 3 years old and under can ride for free if they sit on their parent’s lap.

 

 

Gingerbread House Party

This event is open to all children between the ages of 3-10 years old who reside within the community. Las Posadas

Join us for the re-enactment of the Spanish tradition of “Las Posadas” on Saturday, December 6th at 6:30 PM. The procession begins at Boone’s Lick and South Main and proceeds to the corner of First Capitol and Riverside Drive. Participants carry candles while following Mary and Joseph as they seek shelter prior to arriving at Bethlehem. Our journey ends at a live nativity scene on the riverfront. We will celebrate our journey by singing Christmas carols around Jesus in a manger.

 

 

Santa’s North Pole Dash

Grab your friends and family for the St. Charles Regional Chamber’s 15th Annual Santa’s North Pole Dash! This year’s theme is Cowboy Santa. Break out those Jingle Horses and dust off the Cowboy Hats, we’re going to have a boot-scootin’ good time!

Santa’s North Pole Dash features timed 5K and 1-Mile courses that are fun for serious runners and leisurely walkers alike. Both courses start and finish along the riverside of Historic St. Charles near the Boathouse. After the race, stay for the awards and festivities. Get your photo taken in our life-size snow globe, eat a donut or two, and congratulate the winners of each age group. Then, enjoy the holiday traditions that downtown St. Charles has to offer.

This event will feature Rec-Plex solo skaters, Rec-Plex Artistry Group Class Skaters, and synchronized skating teams. Solo and Duet exhibitions are open to skaters Pre-Alpha and above who are taking private lessons from a Rec-Plex coach. Skaters are responsible for having a holiday-themed piece of music, routine, and costume. Registration based on ISI test level as of Oct 14th. Space is limited, and skaters and music choice will be accepted in the order they are registered until registration is full. Skaters may only register for one solo or duet performance. Duet skaters need only register ONE of the two skaters for the event (name of partner submitted to coach).!
