A St. Louis Mom’s Guide to the NEW Lava Island in Rock Hill

Hey St. Louis moms, if you’re always on the hunt for fresh, fun, and screen-free ways to burn energy with your kids (that don’t involve freezing on a playground bench or refereeing living room chaos), we have the perfect idea for you this winter: Lava Island Rock Hill is officially open, and it’s a total game-changer! 🎉

36,000 Sq Ft of Indoor Fun (Yes, Really)

This isn’t your average play place. Lava Island is a 36,000-square-foot tropical-themed indoor playground, and the moment you step inside, it feels like entering a whole different world filled with color, excitement, and plenty of space to run, jump, climb, and explore.

What makes it even more special is that every single mural – from the deep jungle to the outer space galaxy to the underwater world – is custom and hand-painted. How incredible is that? It gives the entire space a storybook feel and makes each room feel like its own immersive adventure. These aren’t boring, industrial walls!

Built for Everyone to Play Together

One of our favorite things is that Lava Island is designed for everyone, not just kids. Whether you’re soaring down the volcano slide, bouncing in the foam pits, or racing on the tricycle track, the experience invites you to actually play together as a family.

As a mom, it’s refreshing to find a place that doesn’t just allow adults but welcomes them into the action. No sidelines here.

But if you aren’t looking to jump into the fun, there are plenty of tables (bring your laptop and get some work done!) and lots of seating available so you can keep a close eye on what’s happening.

So What’s Inside?

There is no shortage of things to explore, and every space is full of energy and imagination:

Ħ Three-Level Jungle Gym – With slides, tunnels, rope climbs, and secret paths

🌋 Volcano Slide & Jump Tower – Big thrills for kids and grown-ups

🤸‍♂️ Trampolines & Foam Pits – For flips, hops, and belly flops

🚲 Tricycle Track – Built for speed or just cruising

🛝 Dedicated Toddler Area – Full of age-appropriate fun

🍕 In-House Café – Pizza, wings, funnel fries, milkshakes, and more (even coffee!)

The Party Rooms? Next-Level

Planning a birthday party? Get ready to be the favorite parent. Lava Island’s immersive, themed party rooms are truly out of this world.

Each one is custom-designed and hand-painted, with themes like:

👸🏾 Princess

🪐 Space

🐅 Jungle

🦸‍♂️ Superhero

🌊 Underwater

🧜‍♀️ Mermaid

The party rooms even feature blacklight-reactive paint that glows and adds extra wow-factor. The detail, color, and imagination that go into each space make these parties feel like an adventure from start to finish. Birthday packages are all-inclusive and include playtime, food, and more!

Great Hours = More Play Time

Lava Island Rock Hill is open every day from 9 AM to 9 PM, with extended hours until 10 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. It is perfect for after-school energy burnouts, weekend adventures, or spontaneous weekday fun. Does the witching hour strike your house around 5 pm? Bring them to Lava Island!

Lava Island Loyalty Program

If your family becomes regulars like mine already has, you will love the Lava Island Loyalty Program. You earn points with every admission and pizza purchase, and those points add up to a free All-Day Pass. It’s a fun and easy way to get rewarded for making memories together. We could all use some extra perks these days!

Why You Need To Go

Whether it’s a birthday bash, school break adventure, or just a rainy-day escape, Lava Island Rock Hill is our new go-to. It is spacious, colorful, creative, and built for real family connection through play.

Go once, and you will get it. Your kids will be begging to go back. (And you might too!)
