Celebrate Juneteenth with your family by exploring a variety of engaging and educational activities! Juneteenth, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States, is a day filled with joy, reflection, and community spirit.

We’ve curated a list of family-friendly events that offer something for everyone, from a 5k race and inspiring performances to interactive history lessons and hands-on crafts. Join us in honoring this significant day with activities that bring people of all ages together in celebration and learning.

 

Friday, June 12

  • Issa Kickback: Juneteenth Celebration

    5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
    Lewis & Clark Library

    Help us celebrate Juneteenth with a kickback featuring food, yard games, music, and a performance by The Mighty Marching Golden Rams drumline and dancers! A limited number of free vouchers will be provided for the food. All Ages.

 

Saturday, June 13

  • Sabayet Juneteenth 

    11 am – 6 pm
    4000 Maffitt Ave, St. Louis, MO 63113

    Sabayet is hosting the 20th Annual Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday June 13th this year! This free event will be held from 11-6 pm and have a wide range of performances, including a jazz band, African dancers, poetry, children’s games, vendors, and more! This event is family friendly! You can support our black owned businesses by shopping with the many vendors we will have available to you. The food will leave you satisfied. The music will speak to your spirit. Come and experience how we celebrate Juneteenth!

 

The Delmar Loop Juneteenth Celebration brings together residents, visitors, performers, artists, vendors, and community partners for a day centered on culture, connection, and joy. The day begins with the Reconciliation Network’s 5K Race for Reconciliation and continues with live performances, music, dance, community art, food, and local vendors.

Happy Juneteenth! To commemorate the holiday, we’ll learn about the history and future of Juneteenth. American Sign Language will be provided by DEAF Inc. on Friday’s Storytelling

 

Wednesday, June 17

Missouri Botanical Gardens

As part of the Juneteenth Journey ZMD Collaboration, community members are encouraged to visit participating ZMD institutions to engage with programs and experiences that highlight Black history, culture, and community storytelling across the region. Visitors who attend all five locations will be eligible to enter a raffle for memberships to each participating institution.
 
The Freedom Seekers Project is an evolving interpretive experience that highlights the lives of enslaved individuals connected to the Garden’s history. Through exhibits, signage, and educational programming, the project invites visitors to engage with a more complete, evidence-based narrative while honoring stories of resilience, resistance, and the pursuit of freedom.
 
Current experiences connected to the project include:
  • An interactive exhibit in Tower Grove House
  • Story Time in the Brookings Exploration Center
  • Explorer Guides for self-guided learning and reflection

Thursday, June 18

Celebrate Juneteenth on the Edward and Imo Family Plaza with an evening performances highlighting the beauty of Black American culture, hosted by DJ Quinn of 96.3 R&B. Enjoy spoken-word performances by Tracy “T-Spirit” Stanton; the award-winning, soul-stirring Shalom Church (City of Peace) Mass Choir led by Dello Thedford; and an exciting step performance by Gentleman of Vision. The evening starts with a lively happy hour filled with traditional African American games including spades, dominoes, and Uno.  For those looking for some good food and drinks, check out the Black-owned food trucks available!

Rest Reimagined is an immersive experience presented by St. Louis–nonprofit Frizzy by Nature that honors Juneteenth and the power of rest, reflection, and release. As a tribute to freedom, liberation, and belonging, all are welcome to join in the celebration of Black history, culture, and art. This event encourages individuals to reclaim their rest, practice mindfulness through sound and movement, learn about Black artists, and support Black creators.

The 6th Annual Juneteenth Festival will start off with a Parade which begins at 11am. The parade will lead everyone to the Press House where the Festival is being held. There will be Live entertainment, Vendors of all kinds, Kiddie Land, Raffle Prizes and much.

In honor of Juneteenth and Black Music Month, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra celebrates the extraordinary legacy of Black artists whose music has shaped generations. Conducted by Kevin McBeth, this vibrant program features powerhouse vocalists LaKisha Jones (American Idol) and Ryan Shaw (America’s Got Talent) alongside the SLSO and IN UNISON Chorus for an evening of soul, gospel, pop, and R&B classics. Together, these remarkable voices bring new symphonic life to songs that have inspired audiences for decades. Highlighting the iconic music of legendary artists like Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, Sam Cooke, Diana Ross, Bill Withers, Gloria Gaynor, Lionel Richie, Kool & the Gang, and more, the program honors the enduring artistry and cultural impact of Black performers and songwriters.

Recording artist Pokey Bear is headed to the Main Stage at JuneteenthSTL in the City of Dellwood on Friday, June 19! Get ready for an unforgettable night as Pokey Bear closes out the celebration with a show-stopping performance leading into our annual fireworks spectacular. 
 
Bring your family, friends, lawn chairs, and Juneteenth spirit as we celebrate freedom, culture, community, and Black excellence together!
