Date Night: Kids Edition written on a photo of a young girl with a kiddie cup at a restaurant

My husband started taking my daughter on “date nights” right around the time she turned two – to our favorite Mexican restaurant. She is a lover of cheese quesadillas, rice, beans, and “sauce,” aka queso. Basically, she’s a girl after my own heart. It’s such a great experience and one-on-one time for them both. An opportunity to bond and also get her used to eating out in public.

So now, my husband and I like to alternate date nights with her, and it’s something we all really look forward to doing. It’s so important to us to get that time with the kids. So, I’ve compiled a list of ideas you can do with your kids!

a toddler boy playing at Play Street Museum in St. LouisAfter nap time or later in the afternoon, go to Play Street Museum for an hour or two. Get their sillies out in an awesome environment with sensory activities and pretend play with a minimal crowd. Once you’re all done there, you walk next door to Mission Taco! They’ll be the perfect amount of tired and ready for a yummy meal. Bonus – the St. Charles location is adding an arcade room, like the Kirkwood location!

Enjoy a little “Happy Hour” at the Magic House. Did you know that from 3-5 pm, you can get admission for just $3? Just make sure you book ahead of time in order to get that price. Once you’re done exploring, head on over to Mellow Mushroom for pizza and some outdoor games! Their outdoor dining space has a bar and outdoor games to keep the kids occupied until the food comes.

Summer Kids Dream — Family Film Series. This one is awesome! Goes from now through September 1st at participating Marcus Theaters for $3 kid’s movies. Check out the website for participating theaters and movies, and to purchase your tickets. With this summer heat and humidity, it’s the perfect opportunity to beat the heat, munch on some popcorn, and laugh alongside your kiddo.

Enjoy an old-fashioned picnic. No real planning required, and great as a last-minute option. Pack up a blanket along with your favorite foods and head on over to your favorite park. You can bring some toys or set up a scavenger hunt for them to do around the park. Bonus if your kid loves water and you let them run wild in a splash pad.

This one seems super simple, but my daughter loves it. Dinner, dessert, and I let her pick a store to go shopping. Her go-to spot is usually Target (smart gal).

Do you already do this with your littles? What’s your ideal kid date night? Let us know in the comments!
