With Small Business Month coming up this May, I wanted to give a shoutout to some of my favorite mom-owned businesses here in St. Louis. As a small business owner myself, I know how much work goes into growing something you love while juggling life and family. Supporting other moms who are doing the same is something I’m really passionate about.
Whether you’re shopping for gifts, looking to refresh your home, or need a treat (or coffee … always coffee), these local spots are worth knowing about!
Sylvie Dee’s: Sweet Treats, Coffee, and the Cutest Vibe
Sylvie Dee’s is one of my absolute favorite little shops in St. Louis. It’s an ice cream, candy, and coffee shop with the cutest vibe. You’ll walk in and immediately feel happy.
They also host birthday parties, which is perfect for the kiddos who want to do something different and unique!
I grab coffee here about once a week, and this year, I filled most of my kids’ Easter baskets from their adorable candy selection and other non-candy related items. Whether you’re stopping in for a scoop of ice cream, a caffeine pick-me-up, or a fun outing with the kids, Sylvie Dee’s is such a sweet (literally!) local gem.
Abode by Parklyn: Beautiful, Cozy Home Styling
Abode by Parklyn is run by a local mom with a seriously good eye for design. Think: cozy, elevated, not fussy—but still looks like it could be in a magazine. She helps create spaces that feel welcoming and beautiful, and her styling makes modern design feel approachable.
Whether you’re looking for home decor, styling help, or just want fresh ideas for making your space feel elevated and cozy, Abode by Parklyn is a great place to start. Everything she curates is approachable, beautiful, and designed with real life in mind.
Why Shopping Small (and Mom-Owned) Matters
When you support small, mom-owned businesses, you’re supporting real families, real dreams, and our local community. Places like Sylvie Dee’s and Abode by Parklyn add so much charm to St. Louis—and shopping with them truly makes a difference.
So this Small Business Month (and honestly, any month), think of the mamas out there running these amazing businesses.
