As I write this, I’m about a week away from welcoming our second baby! And even as an almost second-time mom, I recently came across a resource I felt I couldn’t gate keep: New Mom School St. Louis – West County.
I recently visited their space in Town & Country to learn more about the classes they offer and the community they’ve created for moms. I left feeling genuinely impressed by how thoughtfully their programs are designed to support moms during the fourth trimester and beyond.
New Mom School focuses on the weeks after birth, a time when many moms are recovering physically, adjusting emotionally, and learning how to care for a newborn, often with limited support.
What New Mom School St. Louis – West County Offers
New Mom School St. Louis – West County offers 8-week, research-backed courses that are aligned with your baby’s age. Instead of trying to cover everything at once, the content focuses on what moms are actually dealing with in that stage. Moms are encouraged to bring their babies to every class, and the space really reflects that. We sat together in their cozy room, with toys available for all ages, and the team was incredibly patient and welcoming – exactly the kind of environment that makes it easier to show up, no matter what type of day you or your baby are having 🙂
Classes are available for:
- Moms with newborns
- Babies 3–6 months
- Rising toddlers (6–12 months)
- Second-time moms with babies 0–3 months
- Breastfeeding support groups (and more!)
As someone preparing to welcome a second baby, I so appreciated the focus on second-time moms. Even with prior experience, every postpartum period (and every baby) brings new challenges and questions.
Access to Trusted Experts
Another standout aspect of New Mom School is the access to experienced professionals. Moms have opportunities to learn from and ask questions of experts such as:
- Pelvic floor physical therapists
- Lactation specialists
- Sleep coaches
- Pediatric physical therapists (and more!)
Having reliable, expert-backed guidance, instead of trying to sort through conflicting information online, can be especially helpful during the early weeks after birth.
Built-In Connection
In addition to education, New Mom School places a strong emphasis on connection. The postpartum period can feel isolating, and these classes give moms the opportunity to meet others who are in the same stage of motherhood.
What stood out to me is that many groups continue their relationships even after the session ends. Even after ‘graduating’ from the class, many moms stay in touch, getting together for park playdates, coffee, or walks with their babies.
Whether you’re expecting, newly postpartum, or navigating the early months with your baby, it’s such a great resource to have here in the St. Louis community, and one that truly supports moms during a season when that support matters most!
