Double Up Date Night Ideas

If you are anything like me, you need more date nights on the calendar. I know all the roadblocks – babysitters, other obligations, I’M TIRED, in this economy!? I get it. I am going to share my ‘date night wish list’ with you. These date ideas are a “twofer”, if you will – I need something MORE out of a date night than just eat an overpriced, lackluster meal, y’all.  Come with an open mind … below, I share my “two for the price of one” ideas:

  • Drinks out/snack + a trip to Global Foods in Kirkwood, MO – A date night to Global Foods? I said keep an open mind. I went there last week, and it was SO MUCH FUN! I can’t wait to go back. I think it would be super fun to browse the store, find new things to try, and maybe pick out ingredients to make dinner together at home.
  • Art/Pottery class – trying something new, supporting a local business, and making a piece of art or pottery to use in your home on a daily basis that will remind you of the date (coffee mug, serving bowl, planter). Local option: Yucandu in Webster Groves, South Broadway Art Project, or Third Degree Glass Factory.
  • Cooking class – learn a new dish, mingle with different people, enjoy a meal, and support a local business. You can implement your new skills/dishes in the future. Local options: Fennel Studio, Kitchen Conservatory, Missouri Botanical Garden (seasonally), even Schnucks has classes!
  • Picnic at the park, share a sunset and a shared hobby. Read a book together or play a relationship card game – think “The Skin Deep” cards. Or a board game. Throw a Frisbee. Offer a foot massage.
  • Make dinner at home together after the kids go to bed – make a playlist of songs played at your wedding and make the meal you served at your reception. Beef tenderloin? Nacho bar? Pretzel Boys? AND the cha cha slide? I’m there.
  • Recreate your favorite meal from vacation together and listen to music from the time you went on that trip together. Go to The Wine and Cheese Place and buy a wine from the vacation region. Talk about the place and where else you want to go together.
  • Go to dinner and have drinks at the bar you used to go to before you moved to (insert now we are parents and live in the boring part of town here). Talk about what life was like before you got old and had kids 🙂
