“Join us at Des Peres Park for our annual pumpkin glow! At sunset (6:30 p.m.), we will launch Jack-O-Lanterns onto the pond! Bring your pre-carved creation and be a part of our magical float! Participants are welcome to bring a picnic dinner and s’mores supplies. Marshmallow roasting sticks and campfires will be available. 

Pumpkins for the float must meet the following guidelines: 

  • Click here to view the pumpkin guideline packet. 
  • Check in for pumpkins starts at 5:30 p.m.
  • Must be pre-carved
  • No more than 8 pounds once hollowed out – approximately no larger than a soccer ball
  • Must be rounder/flat (taller/skinny pumpkins will not stand up on floatation devices)
  • Must have a “top/lid” (note: pumpkins will be attached to floatation device through the base)
  • To keep the water clean, pumpkins cannot have any artificial decorations (i.e. paint, glitter, marker, food dye, paper, plastic, light bulbs, candles)
  • Pumpkins will not be returned after the float. All pumpkins will be composted.

Registration is per pumpkin. $15/Member & Resident; $18/Non-Resident. A pumpkin floatation device, glow stick and marshmallow roasting stick will be provided for each Jack-O-Lantern registered for the event. Registration deadline is 9/29.

The aquarium adventure is decked out with pirate-themed scenes, including a ghost ship with smoking and booming cannons. Guests take a self-guided tour through a highly themed wonderland of treasure caves and grottos. During your journey, discover the Instagram-worthy photo opportunities throughout the transformed Aquarium.
