Do you ever walk into a store and fall in love with all of the things? The clothes, the accessories, the prices, THE SERVICE! It was a no-brainer for us to feature Leopard Boutique for our first ever “Mom Style Spotlight.” Being a mom and finding items that fit (and are fun to wear!) is a task for many of us. We want to look good, feel good, and most of all, be able to “mom” in our attire. Hello Leopard Boutique!
We were lucky enough to sit down with the owner of Leopard, Rachel Sauter, to chat with her about what makes this spot (pun intended) so special!
Who is Rachel?
Rachel is a wife, a mom, a friend and a true fashionista! She remembers playing “store” in her mom’s closet as a little girl and has wanted to own a clothing boutique for as long as she can remember. As soon as Rachel turned 16, she got a job in retail, went on to study Fashion Marketing and Merchandising in Los Angeles and Chicago and continued to work in the industry thereafter. She worked at popular stores such as Plato’s Closet and Nordstrom and also managed Britches, a small boutique in Columbia, Missouri when her husband John was in Law School. They moved back to St. Louis and with the support of John and her friends and family, Leopard was born.
Rachel always LOVED boutique shopping and believed in exceptional customer service but so often, boutiques equaled high prices. She wanted Leopard to be a place with fun and trendy clothing, incredible service AND affordable prices. The “spot to shop” became a reality, and she’s never looked back.
Who is their target customer?
Leopard has customers ranging in age from 20 to 70 years old! It sounds like a large demographic, but they keep so many shapes, sizes and styles in mind when they are at market to shop for pieces to have in the store. Their sweet “spot”…moms and women in their 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. Leopard offers easy tops, casual outfits (#momuniform), great denim, and unique accessories. They have so many options for busy mamas on the go!
What makes Leopard special?
When we asked Rachel this question, her exact response was, “I’m still, 5 years later, so thankful for each woman who walks in our door and supports this business. I will never lose that thankfulness.” Rachel wants shopping to be fun, easy, and personalized for each person. She prides the store on their amazing customer service and is also intuitive to customer wants and needs. Some women want more help than others. Some love suggestions. And sometimes, we shop because we need to get out of the house, away from the kids, and simply just want to talk to someone. Whatever the reason a customer comes into Leopard, their knowledgeable staff will assist (seriously, you can’t help but smile when you visit the store…they are an absolute blast!) Whether it be finding the perfect jeans (Rachel promises she can do this in 3 tries or less–we will hold you to it Rach!), helping to find a great gift, revamping a wardrobe after having a baby or a job change, or just being a listening ear after a bad day, they’ve got you covered. Plus, there’s always wine!
What popular brands do they carry?
KUT from the Kloth (Have you tried these jeans? You need to!), Bobeau, Z Supply, Lush, Liverpool, and many more!
Does Leopard just carry clothing?
Nope! They feature accessories, affordable jewelry, face masks (our favorite), sunglasses, candles and other [local] STL favs!
Where are they located?
Their original location is in Old Webster Groves (20 Allen Ave., #100, Webster Groves, MO 63119,
