I recently made the tough but necessary decision to resign from my job, and instead of jumping straight into what’s next, I decided to pause and celebrate with a bit of healing. After 10 intense months of being in constant “fight-or-flight” mode, balancing work, motherhood, and all the sickness and stress that comes with it, I knew I needed a reset. And what better way to refocus on myself than with sound and Reiki healing?
For anyone new to sound healing, it’s a powerful experience. It uses specific frequencies and vibrations to bring the body into a relaxed, balanced state. The session includes instruments like singing bowls, gongs, tuning forks, and chimes that produce sounds believed to affect the body’s energy fields, supporting physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Each sound frequency resonates with different parts of the body, and the vibrations can influence our brain waves, helping us reach a meditative state. As someone finds it challenging to slow down, let alone meditate, the effect was incredible. At first, I was very aware of the sounds, but then something clicked. I felt myself relax deeply and drifted off a bit!
And then came the Reiki healing. For those unfamiliar, Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique where a practitioner uses light touch to transfer healing energy to different parts of the body. This gentle energy work supports the body’s natural healing processes, releasing any blockages and helping the energy flow freely. It’s especially helpful for people like me, who sometimes struggle to calm their nervous systems. Reiki is thought to align our chakras (the energy centers within our bodies) and promote a deep sense of relaxation.
For any other moms out there feeling overwhelmed or disconnected, I can’t recommend this experience enough. It’s a way to reconnect with yourself, release some of the stress we carry, and truly find a moment of peace. So, if you’re looking for a reset, or even just a new way to take care of yourself, sound and Reiki healing might be worth exploring.
