Kids making sundaes with Hudsonville Ice Cream

As moms, we’re scrambling to ensure that the magic of the holiday season survives and thrives even in this rotten, no-good year. We can set the tone for our families, filling our home with joy whatever our circumstances may be.

You can create so many precious memories at home, and one surefire way to make them even better: add dessert.

As it is the holiday season and 2020, I support you eating dessert whenever and however you want. Ice cream for breakfast before the kids get up? Sure. A sundae for lunch? Absolutely.

That’s just one reason I’m so excited to welcome Midwest-made Hudsonville Ice Cream to all St. Louis Schnucks Markets! Founded in Michigan in 1926, Hudsonville has been using the same recipe for the base of their ice cream for almost a century, and offers innovative flavors. They have your favorite classics, but with an extra special twist. And best of all, they’re made with delicious ingredients, including dairy from farms right down the road from where the ice cream is made, so you know it will taste better and was made with care.

To find your favorite Hudsonville flavors locally, use Hudsonville’s Scoop Locator to search by product. If you’re reading this “live” during the 2020 holiday season, Hudsonville is sweetening their ice cream even more with a special holiday discount and seasonal recipe guide.

Here are just a few ideas for safely enjoying the holidays at home with a bowl (or entire pint, no judgment) of delicious Hudsonville Ice Cream.

Create an At-Home Movie Night

Holiday movies totally don’t count as “screen time,” right? Some of my favorite Christmas memories are curling up on the couch with my parents, brothers, and dog to watch our family’s favorite seasonal movies.

Gather your kids, a comfy blanket, some ice cream (may I suggest Brownie Batter Cookie Dough?), and a movie your family loves, and enjoy the best kind of night in.

Host a Tree Lighting Night at Home

Hudsonville Ice Cream and Christmas Tree

Maybe your tree was already decked on November 1st, but if you haven’t yet pulled out all of your decor, make an event of it! If your little elves’ hands are still too unreliable for ornament arrangement, easily distract them with a bowl of Extra Indulgent Cookie Overload while they watch you make the magic. With a mouthful of extra cookie bites and flavor swirls, you may actually experience a relatively “Silent Night.”

Once your work is done, and they are basking in the glow of the lights, put your feet up with a bowl of your own – you deserve it.

If your family lights a menorah, not a tree, turning the lights down low to watch the candles burn down is no less magical – and no less sweet with a special dessert to enjoy while you watch!

Enjoy Live Performances at Home

I know I’m not alone in my sadness that the Nutcracker, the Symphony’s holiday concert, and other seasonal performances aren’t proceeding as usual this year. Luckily for us, many of them are available for streaming at home.

For those of us with really small children, viewing at home may be less picture-worthy, but definitely easier. Snuggle the kids up with a bowl of Creamery Blend Vanilla and a (homemade or store-bought from your favorite bakery) cookie, and they may even sit still during the Nutcracker waltz!

Whether you incorporate these simple traditions during 2020 when we’re homebound, or in 2025 to simply slow your family’s pace, including Hudsonville’s Classic and Extra Indulgent flavors is sure to make big and small holiday moments that much sweeter.
