Maybe you feel it too, but I hit the wall of pandemic life just after the turn of the new year. I wasn’t expecting something miraculous to happen when the clock struck 2021, but I was also surprised at how the hope of the new year turned grey as fast as it did.
Maybe you’re ready to venture out, but you’re not quite sure where or you know you’d like to stick close to home. Perhaps you’re up for a short drive or just a change of scenery. I’d love to suggest one of my favorite local spots for a staycation – the Seven Gables Inn in Clayton!
You will truly feel as though you’ve stepped back in time to a small European village in this space. Even though it’s located in bustling Clayton, it’s quiet and tucked away and you truly feel a world away. Here’s what we love about it!

Sunday Brunch: My family and I are always looking for a good brunch spot on the weekends, and Seven Gables has an incredible brunch menu at just the right price (and wait till you see the bloody mary!) Here’s a preview of the menu!
- Unique Selections: The Seven Gables Inn Restaurant, Seven, was recently re-opened and now operates under the direction of Chef Jewell, a staple on the St. Louis foodie scene. Many of the decadent menu selections are tributes to famous dishes from local restaurants that are now closed.
- Outdoor Dining: The enclosed courtyard of the Seven Gables Inn makes it a perfect spot for tranquil al fresco dining in the middle of Clayton, ensures a safer dining experience, more than adequate social distancing, and a perfect date night under the stars!
Accommodations
We love the rooms at the Seven Gables Inn because they possess the same charm as the Inn, but they’re also sleek, modern, updated, and comfortable. They have a host of queen and king rooms to choose from, in addition to a few suites that would be perfect for an extra special occasion! One of my favorite extras was the Bissinger’s chocolates we found in the room! YUM! And the plush bathrobes added a layer of luxury as well. Check out the packages they offer!
Special Events
I know it might seem like group gatherings and special events are a long way off, but Seven Gables Inn has made it possible for you to host safe and intimate events during these unsure Covid days. From a professional gathering to a small wedding or baby shower, the Seven Gables Inn has the most charming options, from the Gables room to their outdoor courtyard. In case you don’t remember, St. Louis Mom hosted our 1st Annual Glamping Event at the Inn, and it was the perfect moms night out!
We’re all making the best choices we can given our circumstances and still trying to enjoy life, so I hope this will be helpful as you consider a staycation right here in St. Louis. We all need a getaway … even if it’s just down the road!
