If you haven’t been to O’Fallon, Missouri, you are missing out!
When I moved to O’Fallon, Missouri, in December of 2016, I was looking for a small-town feel, cheaper housing prices, and good schools. I live on the south side of O’Fallon in a little subdivision off Highway K. Let’s be real— O’Fallon is not a small town. It has four high schools, more elementary schools than I can count, and Highway K is like a mini Highway 70! It’s still a sweet place, though, and we did get a much bigger house for our money than we may have gotten in the city. The schools all have great ratings, and I would have no problem putting my child in any Fort Zumwalt School District school. Most of the people we’ve met have been friendly, and we do love our neighbors!
O’Fallon is not short on kids activities or parks. Many subdivisions have their own parks, which is such a great idea! They are usually less crowded and just as fun for a small kiddo looking to run around like a maniac for 40 minutes.
The Renaud Center is the rec center of O’Fallon. They have so many activities for kiddos and adults alike. We will be taking advantage of all they have to offer this summer!
My favorite parks are:
Fort Zumwalt Park
1000 Jessup Dr W, O’Fallon, MO 63366
Forty-eight acres of beautiful park with a cute playground for bigger and smaller kids. My favorite thing about this park is the light display at Christmas time.
O’Day Park
1000 O’Day, Trent Park, O’Fallon, MO 63368
A new park in O’Fallon! I personally haven’t been here, but I’ve heard great reviews— so many great ways to play. Water shoes are a good idea for kiddos at this park.
Zachary’s Playground
8392 Orf Rd, Lake St Louis, MO 63367
This is my personal favorite! It’s an all-inclusive playground which, as a special education teacher, I LOVE! It’s a great play area for small friends. I will say I got lost trying to find Orf Road multiple times, but that could just be me!
Knaust Park
114 Sea Side Ct, O’Fallon, MO 63376
It’s a small park, but it’s just so sweet. The play area is small, and it’s easy to walk around or sit and drink your coffee as you watch your kid play.
I, unfortunately, haven’t been to many events since we’ve been living in O’Fallon because it was winter, I was pregnant, and then I had a small child. Hopefully, with a 2.5-year-old, we will start venturing out to more things. There are always movies and concerts in the park and festivals. This summer, we will try to attend an O’Fallon Jammin concert series and the Heritage Freedom Fest over July 4th. You can check out all that O’Fallon has to offer on the city’s web page under ‘Things to Do.’
O’Fallon boasts a ton of big box stores, which is fine for me as I love Target, Kohls, Ross, and Walmart. O’Fallon also has smaller places to shop. Hut 8 Resale Boutique is a cute place to find gently used men’s and women’s clothes. If I am looking for kids’ clothes, I’ll head to Sproutfitter’s in Wentzville! It’s a great children’s resale.
When I am grocery shopping, I love Fresh Thyme, Aldi, and Walmart. On my side of O’Fallon, there is a Schnucks about every 2 miles down highway K. This happened due to the buyout of Shop n Save (insert sad music). These groceries are not unique, and I’m sure most of you also shop at these stores. I like Instacart for convenience or Walmart grocery pickup.
This is the biggest downside to O’Fallon. When we lived in the city, there were TONS of small owned places to dine. That’s not as much of the case here. You can find a Chick-Fil-A, El Maguey, Pasta House, and others around town. Family-owned restaurants include: Ethyl’s Smokehouse (great sweet potato fries), Stefanina’s Pizza is pretty good, and Rendezvous Cafe and Wine Bar is a cute little cafe in the old part of town that was the first O’Fallon place we tried out. Nice breakfast! My husband would say Cappucino’s Restaurant is the best. It’s like a small grill. They have a nice breakfast as well (as you can see, I enjoy breakfast). Speaking of breakfast, The Shack is in O’Fallon. It’s AMAZING!
Madison’s Cafe is a restaurant you wouldn’t know was there unless you were looking for it.
Need some jewelry? Randy’s Jewelers is a great place for some bling.
