My Favorite St. Louis Bakeries

Recently I gave you my favorite places for pastry, and now I have a list of my favorite bakeries in the St. Louis area in case you are more of a buyer than a baker.

Companion Café

9781 Clayton Road, St. Louis, MO 63124

My favorite place for soup, honestly, but they have my favorite gooey butter cake in STL. They have a deep dish version that will sometimes be topped with something special, like cherry pie filling or pumpkin. I like mine more cakey, but if you like yours with more of a pie crust feeling, try Russell’s! They also have a amazing cakes and cookies.

Federhofer’s Bakery

9005 Gravois Road, St. Louis, MO 63123

My favorite cookies. They are a solid mix of royal icing with cute decorations and also a fluffy buttercream for sweetness. But their cases are full of so many different treats!

Cake House Design

5496 Baumgartner Road, St. Louis, MO 63129

This place is so out of my way and I wish I didn’t love it as much as I do. Their cake and frosting is unbeatable and I am frustrated I can’t figure it out! Their cinnamon rolls are also on point.

Missouri Baking Company

2027 Edwards Street, St. Louis, MO 63110

Talk about local, family owned feels. So many options and old fashioned treats.

The Cakery

1420 Tamm Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63139

A great place for a wedding cake, they often have cake cups where you can just enjoy the scraps in the most delicious way.

Pioneer Bakery and Café

210 N. Kirkwood Road, Kirkwood, MO 63122

Owned by McArthur’s bakery, this is where I actually did get my wedding cake. I love this location because they are staffed by adults with intellectual disabilities who are learning life skills and offering treats and lunch too.

The Daily Bread Café

11719 Manchester Road, St. Louis, MO 63131

This is my local sandwich shop with a great white chicken chili. But they are a great spot for seasonal decorated cookies.

Ok let’s hear it – what are your favorites that I did not include?? (Maybe we will have to have a part 3 for fresh bread, yes??)
