Why Art in Bloom Is St. Louis’s Favorite End-of-Winter Event

Cold air outside. Fresh florals inside. Art in Bloom arrives at the exact moment we’re all craving a dose of beauty!

Late winter in St. Louis can feel endless. The holidays are behind us, spring still feels far away, and we’re all ready for something beyond gray skies and heavy coats. That’s what makes Art in Bloom at the Saint Louis Art Museum so special.

When: February 27 – March 1, 2026

What: Art in Bloom is an annual floral celebration at the Saint Louis Art Museum, where professional florists and designers create large-scale arrangements inspired by pieces from the museum’s permanent collection. 

Family Friendly? YES! There are 2 programs designed especially for families! 

  1. Toddler & Me- Art in Bloom: early childhood program (ages 2-6) with drop-by stations for hands-on art making and flower activities. FRIDAY, 2/27, 10am-12pm
  2. Family Florals: beloved Sunday tradition at the Saint Louis Art Museum, inviting families to get creative and enjoy the museum! This Family Sunday will focus on floral activities and a scavenger hunt! SUNDAY, 3/1, 12pm-4pm

And the best news? It’s FREE!

This year is especially meaningful, as Art in Bloom celebrates its 20th anniversary, marking two decades of art, nature, and community coming together inside one iconic space. Art in Bloom isn’t just about flowers- it’s about seeing art differently. Every arrangement tells a story, highlighting details you might normally walk right past. It’s so fun to see different interpretations of texture, shadow, light, and color!

Know Before You Go

A few important tips if you’re planning your visit:

  • Go early if you can. This is one of the museum’s busiest weekends of the year.
  • Wear comfortable shoes! There are 30 pieces scattered throughout the museum to see, so you will be walking quite a bit!
  • Expect traffic around Forest Park. Parking fills up quickly.
  • Use the shuttle. The museum will be offering a free shuttle to help with congestion!
  • Touring the floral interpretations is FREE … but some experiences like Flowers After Hours or the Preview Party do require tickets!
