I spent several years as “Head Room Mom” during our daughter’s elementary school years. Signing up every year felt like such a great idea until it was time to actually plan the party. After the first insanely elaborate (and expensive) party, I realized the easier the game was, the more participation I received. It also meant more fun for the kiddos. Here are some of the games that ended up being Valentine Party favorites no matter the age… just tweak them to work for the grade you’re partying with!
Minute to Win It: One-Handed Bracelet / Teach Mama
What do you need?
- Pipe cleaner
- Fruit Loops
How to play:
- Give each child a pipe cleaner and Fruit Loops.
- Set a timer for 60 seconds.
- Children have one minute to get as many Fruit Loops on the pipe cleaner as they can.
- For older children, they have to tie it into a bracelet… still with one hand!
Build a Heart Structure / Buggy and Buddy
What do you need?
- Heart Marshmallows
- Toothpicks
How to play:
- Divide the class into groups or pairs.
- Give each group the same amount of marshmallows and toothpicks.
- Have each group build a structure within a time limit of your choice.
Heart Relay
What do you need?
- Candy Hearts
- 4 cups
- 2 spoons
How to play:
- Divide students into two teams and have them line up.
- Place cups with candy hearts and spoons at the front of the line.
- Place two empty cups on the other side of the room.
- Race to see which team can get the hearts from one side of the room to the other – one heart at a time!

How to play:
- Give each child a box of conversation hearts.
- Set a timer for 60 seconds.
- Children have one minute to stack as many hearts as they can.
Valentine’s Bingo / Play Party Plan
What do you need?
- Bingo card for each child – Free Printable
- Bingo Markers (conversation hearts OR red and pink beads)
How to play?
- Call the symbol from the master list OR cut up a card & draw the symbols from a hat.
- The first child to get 5 in a row wins!
