Five years ago, I wrote about how tired I was of hearing “I’m sorry” when I talked about the challenges my black sons faced. Sorry doesn’t change anything. What we really need are storytellers—people who amplify voices that often go unheard—and disruptors, the ones who challenge broken systems instead of just acknowledging them.
Fast forward five years, and honestly? Not much has changed. We’re still having the same conversations about racial injustice, disability rights, gender equity, and so much more. Too many people are still stuck in performative allyship—offering sympathy but not action and those most affected by injustice continue to bear the burden of advocacy. It’s not enough to acknowledge the problem; we need people who are willing to disrupt systems, uplift unheard voices, and fight for real, lasting change.
Apologies don’t create justice.
Action does.
