I’m breastfeeding. I’m hungry. I love cookies. What about some delicious and lactation friendly, homemade cookies?
With these cookies I (and my baby!) get all the amazing benefits from oats, such as fiber, protein and vitamins; but also the healthy essential fatty acids from flax seed and nuts. I like to add a little of brewer’s yeast that has long been touted as a galactagogue (which is considered to increase milk supply in nursing mothers). I admit the chocolate is there for my good mood!
Let’s bake!
Ingredients
2 cups Oat flour (organic preferably)
3/4 cup rolled oats (organic preferably)
1/4 cup flax seed meal
1 tbsp brewer’s yeast powder (optional)
1 large egg (or 2 medium)
100 ml organic agave syrup (or other liquid sweetener of your choice)
3 tbsp melted coconut oil
1/4 cup dark chocolate chips (sugar free preferably)
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350ºF. Line a baking tray.
Mix all the ingredients, make some small cookies and place on the baking tray.
Place into oven for 12 minutes (it may depend on the oven, but you’ll want then slightly brown).
Enjoy, and always remember to reward yourself for the amazing job you have been doing in the last hard, sleepless and anxious days/weeks/months! You conceived, gave birth, are feeding and raising a precious human being. You deserve to pamper yourself!
