National Love Your Skin Day

What does “National Love Your Skin Day” mean to you? For me, it’s about loving my skin no matter what it’s looking like—whether it’s acne, sun spots, or wrinkles—but it’s also about actually taking care of it.

As a makeup artist and esthetician, I’ve come across many women who simply don’t “love their skin.” They don’t prioritize it. Some feel that self-care can come off as vain, and they don’t want to appear shallow. Others are busy taking care of their kids, with their own needs falling to the bottom of the list

Your skin is your largest organ. Loving your skin also means being proactive about its health. That means regular visits to a dermatologist for skin cancer checks, especially if you’ve had significant sun exposure over the years (and let’s be honest—most of us have). Wearing SPF daily isn’t just a beauty step, it’s a health step. Sun protection is one of the easiest, most powerful ways to care for your skin long-term.

I always tell my clients: makeup is fun, but skin is foundational. When you prioritize your skin’s health—through regular check-ups, hydration, nourishment, and protection—everything else becomes easier. Your makeup goes on smoother. Your confidence shows up stronger. And you start to feel just a little more like you.

Here’s what I do to love my skin:

I wear it makeup-free often. If I’m not working or going anywhere special, I skip the makeup. I let my skin breathe and just be.

I also invest in medical-grade skincare—brands like Epionce, Skinbetter Science, and SkinCeuticals are a few of my go-tos. These aren’t trendy quick fixes, and they aren’t cheap. But they are effective. If I’m paying, I want it to work.

I make time for facials every other month (or at least once a season) to give my skin that deeper, professional-level care. In between appointments, I stay consistent at home with a solid routine that supports and protects my skin daily.

However you choose to celebrate today, let it be a reminder that your skin is worthy of love and care—just like you are.

Happy National Love Your Skin Day.
