The College School

For more than 30 years, The College School (Webster Groves, PreK – Eighth Grade) has been inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach for Preschool and Kindergarten. Through this approach, students learn through play, teachers prioritize outdoor exploration, and classrooms work collaboratively to engage with in-depth projects to reinforce physical, social-emotional, and cognitive skills.

From Preschoolers designing and running a school-wide camera repair shop to Kindergartners spending an entire day in the woods hiking and conducting experiments, their Early Childhood students are questioners, listeners, and leaders.

In addition to two core classroom teachers, Early Childhood students visit with Specialist teachers in Greenhouse, Drama, Music, Art, and Spanish. But their school doesn’t work without their families. Throughout the year, they strengthen their community through school events such as curriculum nights, coffee talks, parents’ nights out, and, of course, field trips.

Kiddie Academy is an early learning program that serves families with infants through pre-k. They are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the country’s leading professional organization supporting high-quality early learning for children through practice, policy, and research. Accreditation correlates with children’s greater readiness and success in school, increased educational attainment rates, and overall healthier lifestyles. In fact, only 10% of preschool programs in Missouri have earned this designation, and we are proud to be among them.
